Hogan's issue coming into this season was more about intermediate passing. He threw a lot of deep balls last year.

I think the concerns this year are more about hitting guys in stride and ball security. This season's team throws more than last year. Bunch of reasons for that: good playmakers at WR, emergence of a legit TE, and still trying to find an identity at RB.

I am not a 100% sold on Kelly as a complete package.  I think he is a great coach.  Most of the antics that people fault him for i think he outgrew once he got use to the position.  I think he has been put in some tough spots since he has been here, but has done ok dealing with them.  I don t know what stumbles you are referring to, but everyone has their opinion.  But he came here with a broken down team and coaching staff and has really turned the program around.

Clearly that is the case, so i guess its just going to make it sweeter when we beat you guys again.  I am glad "your experience"  would discourage your kids from attending a great university, because i have heard the same thing about stanford.  I understand the overall fan base can get to over protective of ND, but that doesn't change the status of the university.

Thank you, i have always understood people not liking the football program for a variety of reasons, but the university as a whole has done awesome things.  I would say that we dont have anyone better than Aghalor, but we have serious depth at wide receiver, we have 5-6 guys that can be in the game that you have to respect.  You can't afford to double any of them because the other one will take advantage, and against man coverage, its hard to stop when you have a fresh group or rotating receivers who all have skill.  So thanks for pointing that out, dont want to give the wrong idea. 

And i do agree there are a lot of arrogant fans out there, i hope i haven't come across as one, i just love a good football discussion and its hard to get sometimes. SO i apologize if i came across that way.  Ive felt i was always realistic about where this team stood, but good and bad.  And i believe this team is headed in the right direction and kelly isn't as bad as he sometimes comes across.  But that is the problem with the "preferential treatment", i do believe that there are times where they do receive it, mainly in right before they play a big game.  But I think some of it is blown out of proportion.  They are a good football program with a brobdingnagian fan base, so media is going to talk about them, because it brings money in for them.  But this also works against them, because every negative story is blown up much larger than it is because they are also one of the most hated programs - why, because it brings ratings to the channels.  I mean its crazy when a second/third string guy is a headline for getting busted at an underage party (a few years ago).  Or the game where kelly did lose his cool, they played it over and over and over again.  So when they mess up (which all universities do) they are blasted harder.  I never liked Weis, but i never once heard him refer to himself as an offensive guru, the media labeled him as that, and then when they flopped, slammed him because he was suppose to be an offensive guru.  (i dont want to get into weis though, just an example).

yes, as much as anyone would talk about stanford if you took away your football team.. college football is the most popular ncaa sport, its the reason we hear about most universities... i dont see many headlines about stanford baseball, but i know they have a respectable program, but since i dont hear about them, does that mean stanford is only a football factory?

N.D. graduates a lot of its players, and some of them in pretty difficult majors. So that's good. But in terms of accountability they're rather weak. Kelly's scandals. The botched rape investigation. This plagiarism affair is tough to slot -- normal students do plagiarize, and the players have been taken off the field. That's to their credit. It's hard to further evaluate without more information. But still, I would say N.D.'s off-the-field activities are pretty much what I'd expect from a football factory.

When it comes to our football teams, the academic standards are very different.  One of the things that pisses people off is that NotreFraud and its fans (like the similarly loathed University of New Jersey, Durham) either pretend or are under mass delusion that they have high academic standards for their athletes.  One look at your roster and only a handful of names are familiar:

Doug Randolph, Durham Smythe, Amir Carlisle, Corey Robinson. 

Maybe missing a few, but only a few.  And who knows if they turned us down because of admissions like that Fake Dead Girlfriend guy.  Your entire roster has the athletic talent to play at Stanford.  Only a few had the brains for Stanford to even consider them.  And you guys like to think that the caliber of your student-athletes is comparable.  Give me a break.

are you serious?  ND looses guys all the times because they dont qualify... yes there are guys that need help to stay eligible, but pretty sure stanford guys get tutors too.
