With a week to go before the NCAA unveils its tournament seedings, and all power conference tourneys complete, there will be considerable gnashing of teeth in anticipation of where Stanford will rank.

Why?

The top and second seed will go to UConn/Golden Homers, both deserved for finishing undefeated.

A half-dozen teams are now vying for the last two #1 seeds. Frankly, it really doesn't matter. The Cardinal must land between No. 3 and No. 6 on the S-Curve -- either the last two on the No. 1 seed-line or the first two on the No. 2.

Either way, Stanford's first two rounds of the NCAAs cannot be in Palo Alto. Worst case scenario is, they'll not only land on the #2 line but also be forced to travel to the Eastern time zone (highly unlikely).

Yet if the Cardinal win those games, the Sweet 16 and the Elite 8 will be played at Maples. And the bracket dictates that neither UConn or Northern Indiana Parochial can be an opponent until the Final 4.

I basically agree except it is also the G (Geography) curve for the women's seeds so it is not only unlikely but pretty much impossible that we will go to an eastern time zone subregional.  http://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-wome...ampionship  shows the subregionals.  Even if we get a #2 seed and UConn, ND, Louisville, South Carolina, Baylor, WV, and TN area all somehow are ahead of us on the S curve, there are plenty of places in the east, midwest, and southwest (Baylor hosts for instance, and they are the farthest west of the #1 and #2 seed candidates) for those teams to be placed.  None of those will get sent to LA or Seattle.  When it is our turn on the S curve, the G curve will put us safely in LA or at worst Seattle.  And yup, there is no way we could be seeded to face UConn or ND before the F4.  If we are a #2 seed, we will end up with Louisville, South Carolina, TN, probably with an outside chance at Baylor.  The trick is getting to Maples to play whoever it is.  Worry about that first.
