Breaking news in the Bay Area - Aldon Smith, the 49ers sack machine, was pulled over in San Jose this morning.  Reports say he was DUI with weed and pills in the car.  You may have heard Harbaugh's scream all the way on the East Coast when he heard this news.

No word on suspensions yet but this is Smith's second offense.  Keeping Andrew Luck healthy and upright on Sunday MAY have just gotten easier.

49ers & JH vs Colts & Luck

First, Luck succeeding in the NFL helps Stanford over the long haul more than JH winning at the 49ers.  Luck winning may also eventually produce greater donations (from Luck) to the Stanford AD.

Second, the Colts have more Stanford players in key roles.

I would hope the Colts win, but know that the 49ers are a much better team.  I just hope that Luck will survive this game.  The OL is terrible, and now Luck has an RB back there that likely does not know the protection scheme.  It is a rather scary prospect.

Last year Sherman made some pretty pointed statements about Wilson being the class of the rookie QBs. Hopefully Luck can make him eat his words. It would be nice to a Fleener TD reception over Sherman for the win.

One of my buddies that's a die hard Broncos fan says Payme has reinjured his neck and can't throw passes longer than 10 yards. I think the Colts have a good chance to upset them this weekend.  Irsay's bulletin board material, of course, is not helpful.  What he said is absolutely correct.  He just shouldn't say it.  The man really has diarrhea of the mouth.  Instead of bellyaching about only having one ring, he needs to focus on finding better protection for Andrew.

It's kind of surprising that they would be so low given that typically the divisional winner has to play all of the divisional winners within the conference. I guess the AFC South is just so bad that playing 6 games against Houston, Jacksonville, and Tennessee skews the overall.

Apparently the schedule is even more favorable when you consider the "tougher" opponents are played at home (opponent win pct for home games is .445 and away is .414)

I don't think I would want to see the outcome of a Colts vs. NFC champ next year. It will take a couple of years at least to build a defense that can play championship ball.
