Everyone has most likely seen this flyer detailing the activities in Santa Monica on the 30th, but posting it here just in case. It's attached, but I had to scale down size and quality to meet file size requirements. It was posted to the Stanford Football Facebook page if you want to look at it there.

On a semi-related note, last year we happened upon the team busses arriving to the stadium a few hours before the game. It was kind of a nice equivalent of The Walk, minus some of the fanfare and the setting. I paid no attention to the timing of that and wish I would have since we'd like to be there for that again this year. Has anyone seen a schedule detailed enough to list that level of activity?

I don't think that kind of schedule is public, but I may be able to find out.  The team buses passed me while I was walking toward the stadium about 3 blocks away, which was super cool (except for the extremely loud law enforcement motorcycle sirens).

Any information you could find would be greatly appreciated. We were at the public tailgate last year, so it was easy to hop over as they arrived. Trying to coordinate it with the Alumni Association event this year will be a bit trickier.

It was a pretty awesome arrival...although the size and volume of the police escort was enough to conjure up images of Armageddon.

For those of you who did not go last year, do not leave the Pep Rally until Willie Shaw does his thing.  We were bored to tears and thought about leaving.  I talked my buddies into staying because I got the feeling that Willie Shaw was gonna bring it.  I was right.

For any who went last year, how family-friendly is this event? Is it packed and crazy? My wife and three kids (thirteen, eleven, and eight) are definitely not football fans, so I'm wondering if it would be a mistake to drag them out to this.

I think that the Santa Monica Pier is a much more family-friendly venue than LA Live.  Last year we attempted to take the metro downtown and by the time we reached LA Live, it was so jam packed that we couldn't even see the stage.  We had our 18 month old in a stroller and it was a challenge. 

By contrast, during the summer at the SM pier they have these music concerts which manage to accommodate pretty enormous crowds comfortably.  I'm guessing that this year's event will be more similar to the Orange Bowl pep rally than last year's Rose Bowl one.  If the fam finds that their enthusiasm for seeing the coaches/team doesn't match yours they can check out the rides/arcades/beach that will be right there.

Last year's pep rally was also the pre-cursor to the cardboard meet-up.  Are we going to do something again this year?
