Not sure what his timetable is and whether he'll be back for our 11/10 game with the beavs, but it diminishes OSU's chances to come in second behind Oregon and to make the Rose Bowl, should it become eligible and Oregon make the NCG.

Looks pretty bleak. Most knee injuries that require surgery are season enders. Could be some minor cartilage damage that they'll scope and snip, but still looking at 4-6 weeks at best I'd think.

He was having an outstanding season, so I'm sad to see it happen, though I do think this really helps our chances against OSU.

It will be interesting to see when he comes back, but it might not be too serious since he played with the injury the rest of the game.  Stanford does not play OSU until November, so I could imagine he might be back by then.

In any event he is only a Sophomore, so I trust he will be able to get back and do great things.

I agree that Mannion's most likely out for the year, given the injury and the type of surgery he's about to undergo. Glad he's a sophomore, hope it heals fully, and I'd even be happy to hear of a speedy recovery that puts him on the field this season. Doubtful, though, and in the meantime I'd have to think it helps us and those teams in line to contest OSU's posturing as the 2nd or 3rd best team in the conference.

By the way, I've not properly introduced myself on this board. I'm a transplanted premium Bootleg member that has occasionally visited this site for a bit of variety (and respected it for its content), only now to find myself seriously wondering if I can continue using the Bootleg with its new platform. Those of you who frequented that site know me as 'drewbug,' but my recent move to Albany (or Weenieville, as I call it -- I count three weenie flags on my street alone) inspired my new tag. I look forward to future Cardinal exchanges on this site.

Latest word seems to be week to week for Mannion.  Given that OSU and Stanford play in November, it seems probable he will be playing in that game.  How mobile he will be is a different story, but I now expect him to play.  Really always did because he would not have played through any MCL, ACL type damage, but might have played the rest of that game with meniscus problems.
