The Pac-12 tourney will be held next year in the Key Arena in Seattle.  Announced in a conference call, so no official release out yet on future venues, rotation plans, etc. that I can find.

It's not like the Laker-besotted throngs are packing the arena to watch the Pac-12.  Some of the games have been so lightly attended it's embarrassing.  Maybe a different venue  (smaller, yes?)  will amp up the game atmosphere and make it a better experience.

That, and the Seattle area really supports the WNBA Storm well.

I'm hoping, as I've said before, for rotating venues around the region.

Will be interesting to see what happens with the men's tournament.  I've always thought that one of the reasons it was held in Staples was the ownership stake Fox had in that facility (beyond bribing UCLA to ease their resistance to a post-season tournament by guaranteeing it would be in Los Angeles).  But even the men's tourney games have been sparsely attended.\

With the women, it's actually beyond embarassing.  Especially trying to schedule them to not conflict with the men, putting the two semifinals on the Friday afternoon of a schoolday in downtown Los Angeles.

My other desire would be to move the games back a day.  Make the championship on Sunday (though it may conflict with the all-men's bracket all the time scheduling on Selection Day), since the women's NCAA selection is not until Monday.  The only women's games yesterday were the championships of a few small conferences (one of which admittedly featured a really good Delaware team with Elena Delle Donne).  Then play the semifinals on Saturday afternoon as a lead-in to the men's final on Saturday evening.

ahh, bummer. I enjoyed having the Pac-12 tournament in my backyard. I enjoyed the downtrodden faces of scalpers exchanging a ticket for pocket change and a half roll of Mentos since nobody wanted to attend the games in the first place...

I'm always perplexed at the refusal to cut ticket prices when there are attendance problems. Watching the ASU game last week, I heard the announcers say several times that there were plenty of seats available for the next day, starting at $35. And indeed there were plenty of seats, maybe 15,000 or so. If I were in charge, I would have cut prices in half. You get more people in, create a more exciting atmosphere, and you sell a hell of a lot more programs and popcorn and cokes.

Cutting prices creates the perception you have a low-value product--paradoxically in some situations you can actually get lower attendance with lower prices.
