"Does anyone know anyone..."
Last year Brennan Scarlett was accepted by Stanford, but he committed to School near Oakland. It does happen...
"[Aziz's coach] and California recruiters have convinced Aziz that though California has a lower entrance standard for athletes than Stanford, it is just as if not more academically rigorous than Stanford."
Hmm... it's good to hear the Aziz's coach is letting Aziz decide what is best for himself without letting his (the coach's) biased opinion influence Aziz.... Not.
Sounds a bit hypocritical because I'm sure they try to convince their not-so-academically oriented recruits (like most of them)Â that the academics really aren't that tough.

What I think they do is say the school is tough, but some majors are easier than others (which is absolutely true), and they let the guys choose what they want. A lot end up in Social Welfare, American Studies, and similar majors, which are not all that challenging. But there are Poli Sci, Econ, Business, Engineering, CSEE, and other rigorous majors taken by football players at California, and Shittu is a would be Engineering major of some sort, as I understand it.
I know of a softball recruit that was admitted to Stanford and chose California instead. It is admittedly rare, but it does happen on occasion.Â
