With a gift for an assistant coachship, Kristina Johnson, '79, MS '81, PhD '84, is helping to ensure that the field hockey program will continue to recruit and retain top coaching talent. Field hockey had an exciting overtime win against Michigan State in Lansing yesterday.  The record doesn't show that MSU has a particularly good team (12-13 over the last two years, excluding this year), but finding a way on the road has to count for something on Stanford's behalf.  

Congratulations to the team for the endowment!  I think the athletic department has let the sports know that everyone should be a little more self-sufficient in light of imminent budget-tightening from reduced ACC conference revenue sharing.  Glad to see alumni donors stepping up to support their team.
