Let the tea leaf reading begin. Anyone see significance in: (1) school names are not arranged in alphabetical order; (2) "Stanford" is positioned in the middle of the array, superimposed on her picture; (3) "Duke" is listed first; (4) her right hand is poised above "Stanford"; (5a) the array of school names is shaped more or less like a map of the United States, but slanted left, meaning a westward lean? (5b) Or does the slant mean that the West is sinking while the East is rising? :)

Yuk. This would mean that I have to have an Instagram account, which I don't have, and don't really want. I guess I'm just cutting myself off from all sorts of wonderful things, but then I'm saving myself from a lot of awful stuff as well! In the meantime, I'll continue to rely on great people like you to keep me informed.

This may not mean anything and it may have been posted before. Both her parents went to Yale. Her aunt went to Stanford.
Although Duke is a rising program they are unlikely to be a final four team in the next three/four years. For that reason alone I can't see Duke even if it's geographically closer to her family.

Glad Jennifer Azzi didn’t see things that way…

I am glad we have a date and time to find out the news, so I don't have to check every few hours for an announcement, lol.
At this point, speculating and trying to decipher Instagram posts and the order of the schools in her picture is just going to drive me crazy. I can't say I will put it completely out of mind until Thursday, but no use worrying about something we have no control over over the next 44.5 hours. Got plenty of other stuff to do in the meantime.
Obviously, we are hoping she chooses Stanford, which on paper would be a great fit (great academics, plenty of potential playing time with our need at the guard position and contending for national titles every season), but that's no guarantee. It would help our title chances by adding an elite guard to complement the strong contingent of post players we have, but in the end, it's her decision and I would wish her well wherever she picks.

Instagram isn't always all telling, but Kendall Dudley, her teammate and #4 recruit in 2024, commented with trees. Wondering if that is signifying anything on Dudley's current lean herself?
I hope that Kiki RICE realizes that the future of WCBB is in the PAC 12, based on the recent successes of several PAC 12 teams in the NCAA Tournament:
2021 - national champion Stanford and runner-up Arizona,
2020 - Oregon would have been national champion had it not been cancelled,
2019 - Oregon in Final Four,
2017 - Stanford in Final Four,
2016 - OSU and UW in Final Four
and, as a result of that, the current influx of Top 10/Top 25/Top 50 recruits to Stanford, OSU, Oregon, Arizona, UCLA, USC and even UW, wherein 6 of the Top 10 recruits from the Class of 2022 are PAC 12-bound, and she will be the 7th if she decides to!

I think maybe too much emphasis is being put on Rice's decision. We will be an excellent team either way. Rest easy people.

- 3 of her 5 finalists are PAC 12 teams
- getting both the #1 and #2 overall recruit is a BIG DEAL, because it has only happened once before in WCBB, i.e., 10 recruiting classes ago, when #1 Breanna STEWART and #2 Moriah JEFFERSON both went to UConn, and we know what happened after that - UConn wins 4 consecutive national championships!

I think we will be fine even without Rice. But let’s land her! I think it’s between us and Duke. We’ve come in second too many times with elite guards. We are due!
If Lawson isn’t at Duke, they are not even in the final running for Rice.

I see in her bio that her father is Andre Hines. There was an Andre Hines who was an OL on the Stanford football team in the late 70s. I wonder if there's any relation?

Thanks for clearing that up - I've seen that movie countless times and remember the song you mention. It's just that the backdrop to the dancers threw me . . . I really don't recall that at all.
(BTW, the closing scene where the troops rally for their old commander is pretty darn heartwarming).
