The Dallas newspaper has done one.   It notes that there\'d only be 2 inter-divisional games per season.  Using Texas A&M as an example, they laid out a model for how it would go.   Projecting, we\'d play Texas, Oklahoma and A&M  on an eight (correction: four)year cycle.

Under their scenario we would play each eastern division team on a four year cycle and have a home game with each tame on an eight year cycle. I am not sure if this will maximize interest. I think a four division plan would be better. This way everyone would play each team in their division every year and play two of the four teams in the other divisions every other year.

One of the main objects of desire in this reconfiguration is the Big East\'s automatic BCS bid.  Meanwhile,  the Pac-10 has already said it will apply for two  automatic BCS bids and not have a conference playoff game.  With expanded conferences and the Big East\'s legitimacy always under scrutiny,  that BCS, and the Big-12\'s  bid are prime targets.

More than one conference would LOVE to have another BCS slot,  so it won\'t be an automatic for the Pac-10.   The argument for, of course, is that we would have the competitive heart of the Big 12 and most of the conference\'s big names, so the Big 12 bid should go with them...natcherly.   Dunno how it will work out.

Getting a second auto-bid is the dumbest way to approach this.  That would make us two separate conferences with 2 classes of OOC games.  No, for this marriage to work we must crown a champ and that champ must go to the Rose Bowl.  Why not just lobby for a provision that conferences with 16 teams are eligible for up to 3 spots?

As long as we are changing the CFB landscape let\'s not further entrench the abomination that is the BCS.  This is a crucial moment for college football.  Let\'s not make it even worse than it already is.

The winners of the the two divisions would still play a championship game, and if that winner went on to the BCS championship game then fine.

Otherwise, the Pacific division champion would play in the Rose Bowl.  While the Mountain division champion would play in the Jones "Cotton" Bowl.  Even if this is not formally the program, I am confident that the conference would evolve into something like this soon.

In this new era of mega mergers anything is possible, and I certainly could imagine that the Mountain 7 or 8 will be able to get a big payout bowl tie-in without any problem.
