The countries that reopened schools earlier than the US are the ones that crushed the virus and are using testing and tracing to keep it under control. The virus has been spreading too fast, particularly in the southern half of the US, for testing and tracing to keep up with it.
Where is the criticism of people under 40, irresponsible employers, and lack of isolation housing for people in crowded housing?
Look at the demographics. Look at where the spread is most prevelant. I realize it’s chic to claim it’s just people partying etc. I think what is probably closer to the truth is that the virus is being spread by economically disadvantaged people living in close quarters in high density areas many of whom have to work outside the home to feed themselves and their family. Which is why, I think, you see such large rates in Los Angeles and other densely populated cities. And I bet you when you look at those cities and break them down, you will see the highest rates in the poorest areas. Multi generational families living together. Bad housing. And poorer health to begin with. Thus more comorbitities.
I’m not blaming these people. Far from it. They are trying to survive. In difficult circumstances when times are good. Impossible circumstances now.
What I am suggesting is that the narrative of this being spread largely by a bunch of privileged people partying and having a good time on beaches and bars is greatly overstated. Because it fits politically.
