Just got a solicitation to work a critical care locum tenens job in Texas. It is offering a higher hourly rate than the last time, when New York was trying to get me to come out there. To the extent that you trust price as a signal of supply and demand, either there are a lot fewer critical care certified doctors... or Texas is in trouble.
