Not surprising.  I always thought the stated reasons for his admission to the hospital (persistent fevers requiring additional testing) were somewhat specious.  Also, I wonder if the Queen's speech, delivered yesterday, was made in knowledge that the government was harder hit than had been let on.

That said, this video, from March 3, suggests the possibility that he came may have come into contact with a large viral load, since he claimed to have shaken hands with every single patient in a coronavirus ward he visited...:

That was on March 3rd... + 2 weeks, would be March 17th.  He was diagnosed about 10 days ago?  So likely not related (unless he had some early invisible immune response and he later had a second exposure and Covid is acting like dengue.  Yeah, probably/hopefully not).

I don't think that's the case. He'd be on camera if that were the case. Probably good odds he's intubated already or will be within hours. Early intubation does give better results it seems.

Yeah, the commercial was terrific. It had additional impact by the absolutely humorless reaction of the British establishment.

I don't know enough about Brexit to have a right to an opinion. I do know the British public has signaled its determination to leave in every way possible. It's a mandate that should be respected, and apparently is being so, after a long period of whining and disbelief.

52-48 was hardly a mandate, especially when exactly what kind of Brexit they were voting on wasn't described.  Now that being said, after a few years of diddling, they did just have an election where one of the candidates campaigned on getting Brexit done, and that candidate won decisively, so any uncertainty that may have remained is now gone.

Boris Johnson was educated in Eton and Oxford.  From his bio, "He read Classics at Balliol College, Oxford, where he was elected President of the Oxford Union in 1986."  I don't know how one could be any more establishment than that.
