With his fifth interception of the season yesterday, Justin Reid is now tied for the FBS lead. Interestingly, despite 5 interceptions, he has only 1 interception return yard.
As a team, we rank 6th in the country in interceptions with 9. We are tied for first in the conference with Utah and USC.
Speaking of turnovers, we have only recovered three fumbles, which is tied for 65th in the country. That being said, our opponents have fumbled 10 times, which means we have been somewhat unlucky with regards to fumble recoveries (most analyses I've seen have shown that fumble recoveries are somewhat fluky, and once a team fumbles, who recovers is mostly a matter of luck). We are tied for 19th in opponent fumbles.
All told, we are net +1.2 turnovers/game, which is good for a tie for 13th in the country. Critically, we have created 12 turnovers (21st in the country) and only turned the ball over five times in six games (tie for 12th fewest).
