On a Chryst note, assuming Stanford handles Rice, he will be 5-0 as a starter, and if Stanford wins its bowl game, he'll go into 2017 having never lost a start. It will be fascinating to see how Shaw judges that record in terms of "is he just a winner" and has earned the job as a result, or is it really a product of playing some really lousy defenses the last six games of the season, and Costello will be able to seize the starting job?
Presumably we will be playing a good team with a decent defense in our bowl game and that will be a good test of whether Chryst is really the guy we want next year or has just been a winner because he has played against poor defenses.
