Big12 Expansion (not)

Brace yourselves for Houston-to-the Pac rumors. If someone convinces Texas Tech to ditch the Big 12, I'm sure Larry Scott would be very tempted to pitch expansion to 14 as a "magic bullet" to solve the Pac network's distribution problem (which is really a revenue gap problem when you look at the Pac's TV deals compared to the SEC and Big 10).

There is no way we go to 14. You aren't going to convince the schools to go to 2x7 divisions or get Colorado, UA, ASU and Utah to give up an annual game in LA.

ASU subsidizes athletics by about $9.4 million and charges students a $75 athletic fee per semester. UA is pushing hard for stadium renovations, but this year got substantial pushback on a proposal involving a student fee.

I'm pretty sure both Arizona schools would listen to any and all ideas that would substantially increase athletic revenues. Larry Scott can point to both the Big 10 and SEC as having 14 schools.
I haven't heard anything that suggests Texas Tech is unhappy in the Big 12, so this is just message board chatter.
