Is apparently the Rams' #3 quarterback at the moment. The previous five quarterbacks selected #1 in the NFL draft were their teams' starting quarterbacks by the end of the preseason.

Oh, and the Rams' #2 quarterback? Also a familiar name -- Sean Mannion.

Probably a good thing for Goff's career. Keeps him from becoming David Carr 2.0, Fisher gets fired, gets to start again with (maybe) a competent offensive coach.

Well, Steve McNair seemed to enjoy a fairly productive career under Jeff Fisher.

To your point, McNair was drafted #3 overall but didn't become the regular starter until his third season, and that patience surely worked out better in the long run as opposed to being rushed to start before he was ready.

Goff's fellow Cal alum Aaron Rodgers also had to wait several years before starting and it seems to have worked out well for him.

I don't see that as a bad thing for him at all. Excellent quarterbacks often go to teams with offensive lines that are more like colanders than lids. Down linemen still make it through. Goff will be able to learn the offense, follow an experienced quarterback, and then be healthier and more knowledgeable when he does start.

I'd take Case Keenum any day over the three stooges, Gabbert, Kaep and Ponder.
