I haven't seen it posted here, so I thought I would post that Cory Booker recently finished a book.  Here's an interview of Booker with the NYT about his reading habits, which touches briefly on the his book:

His politics are probably controversial, but hopefully any disagreements with his taste in reading can be aired in a civil fashion.  ;)

My son had the opportunity to attend an event with the junior senator from New Jersey on Sunday in Boston. He spoke for an hour extemporaneously. My son came away highly impressed. Mr. Booker certainly has a presence. (I watched the event on YouTube.)

One of the primary reasons that I enjoy rooting for Stanford athletes is because so many of them exhibit a wide range of (other than athletic) talents, both while they are students and in later life. They really are a great reflection on the university.

Leaving politics aside, it's really easy to root for these guys, and it's not too surprising to me that there are a number of former Stanford football players who have tried to enter the political arena.  Duf Sundheim and Damon Dunn haven't had Booker's political success, but they also reflect favorably on the school and the football program.  There are a number of other alumni of the program who have the profile to enter that arena, if they see fit to do so and are willing to tolerate the lifestyle, which, IMHO, has become really awful.

I saw him speak in Evanston on Friday. I actually don't know a lot about his politics apart from him being a Democrat, but the talk was impressive. Even my parents who are pretty conservative said that they wished he were running for president.

Here is a link to the video from that. He starts at 12:30 if you want to skip the long winded introductions where Jan Schakowsky (U.S. Representative) and Dick Durbin (U.S. Senator) pat each other on the back.
