I used the link in the article to check out his prior year\'s grades. They support the opinions of this being a spontaneous & superficial effort: a couple of good guesses, a couple dead wrong, and mostly to be determined. Not an educated reach in the whole lot.
Regarding Hoke: as a sports page reader in San Diego I had a good feel for Harbaugh\'s potential based on his work @ USD. Similarly, I\'ve been able to follow Hoke from his original screening for the San Diego State job, through his 2 year turnaround of that program and on to Michigan.
In San Diego, and now in Michigan he has been insightful and decisive in his hiring of assistant coaches, especially his coordinators. While he\'s working that whole "shucks I\'m just an old D-line coach scuffling along" shtick he\'s behaving like an accomplished CEO. He brought in an "A Team" of coaches that turned SDSU around in 2 years. Looks like he\'s well on his way to doing that in AA. I would not be surprised if his new DC hire effected a Fangio like turnaround of their defense in his first year.
Unfortunately for us, a revitalized UM program will be a prime competitor for scholar athletes looking to play top tier football. Maybe DS can get his dad working on that whole DC thing ASAP!
