No inside info. Eboh tweeted getting wisdom teeth pulled, but maybe he went anyway or it was an old photo.

Seems like a positive sign (not dispositive, but still meaningful) that Eboh chose to come to Stanford's Big Visit since Texas also held their Big Visit this past weekend.

Right. I was more focusing on the commentary about who leads for him, with no mention of Stanford at all (I'm not worried that we're out of the running, just thought it was interesting).

I saw a video interview he did a couple weeks ago where he said academics were extremely important to him, and Stanford has the clear lead in academics above all other schools (including Notre Dame).Â
If academics are really that important to him, I don't see him going to Texas, TAMU, or Alabama. It'll come down to if he's accepted at Stanford or not. Otherwise I see him committing to Notre Dame.Â

Texas and TAMU are considered top-flight schools within Texas. In fact, many Texans treat them as though they are the only schools. His interest in academics in no way will eliminate those schools.

I think Texas' "we will play you as a freshman" approach might not be a bad sell to recruits, and by all accounts Charlie Strong impresses the kids. If this year isn't a disaster for Texas, they might get some traction.

door 1 opening wider?... or is staff not playing it's hand as well as it should?
this is problematical on several fronts
1. Teams we're going against for our top recruiting targets will not hesitate to use it to our disadvantage (particularly those with a still very good academic reputation) ... they have been handed a great negative recruiting tool... I can just imagine what Harbaugh will point out... or Kelly at ND... or Mora at UCLA...
2. This will invariably set our staff back a notch, or 2 or 3 in how they strategize their recruiting... we will likely revert to a strategy of advising fewer public commits and more silent verbals... in turn that will diminish the perceived 'recruiting momentum' vibe that these recruits and families pick up on... if we have perceived weaker recruiting classes approaching LOI day... then some of the most football oriented/NFL hopeful recruits who are still darn good students may decide that our program/team just won't be strong enough for their ambitions to be realized
We will thenl have to cast a far wider net to identify and carry along in the process an increased number of solid plan B's that are more assured of getting in, but not as great football-wise... and if that happens, 2 bad things could result...Â
3.Could eventually lead to a downward spiral if those plan A's that may be borderline admittable think, 'aw the hell with it'... Notre Dame's academics are still great, and they commit early on to ND (building up THEIR momentum)... or Michigan, or Texas, or Ucla... etc, etc....Â
4. And if certain borderline admits that were either silent verbals or still open to us do get admitted, then we would increase the number of those Plan B's that were strung along in the process but in the end didn't get that offer... and we get a soured reputation as a result
5 dings of committed verbals unprecedented... something needs to be fixed...
