That ranking was for the recently completed season. And perfectly reasonable in my opinion.

The ESPN Pac-12 blog actually ranked Stanford 7th both in the final ranking for this season (which I agree with you was perfectly reasonable) and in their early rankings for next season (which I think is too low).  I mistakenly linked just to the blog, rather than to the specific ranking to which I referred.  Here's a direct link:
