If the heart isn't in it, the soldier won't fight well or at all, the player won't play well, or at all, the kid won't eat broccoli or clean their room well or at all. Whether it was distance, shock of suddenly landing in an atmosphere where he had to draw on his own resources for school and big time football or well, whatever... he wasn't ready or happy. It happens. The weird thing is the summer session works so well to incrementally introduce the kids to Stanford academics and the demands of football. But each is easier than the real thing in the late Summer and Fall. It's designed for successful integration and adaptation, but I guess it also acts to wave off the unready. Good luck to him. Woulda' been a good prospect to develop in our program.
