After having seen the game in person, I watched the re-broadcast yesterday on TV. Hogan looked somewhat better to me on TV than in person--I'm not sure why.Â
The interception was clearly a case of him locking on to a receiver and not having enough situational awareness--and with a better secondary there might well have been another interception. (He did throw two last year against SC, so we will see if he does better this year.) Safeties are going to follow his eyes until he does something to burn them for doing so, and he is beginning to learn but is not all the way there.....
I did see him go to a second receiver at least a couple of times...which looked better to me than last year.Â
Some of his short to intermediate passes were a little low, high, or behind his receiver--but generally they were close enough to be caught. So I would have to say they were good passes but not perfect passes.Â
He should probably have had even better stats than he did. The bomb he threw to Montgomery in the end zone was not really overthrown--for some reason Ty did not accelerate or reach for it or it would have been a TD--except the play was called back on a penalty anyway. At least the penalty wiped out an INC.
