If Stanford gave out scholarships to football players like everyone else (no admissions gauntlet), Stanford would have many more commits, and more higher rated ones.

Just looking at the guys interested, it sure seems there are quite a few top prospects considering Stanford still.  Obviously it doesn't mean they will all be admitted, but the data suggests if they visit and apply, it means Stanford is their first choice, because the vast majority of admitted recruits don't go elsewhere if admitted.

The most important thing to watch: are guys who say they are considering Stanford taking two AP classes in their Senior year and/or filling out an application.  I wish Mike Farrel of Rivals would ask these questions to Rasheem Green, Trent Irwin, Bryce Love, Osa Masina, and other elite prospects he interviews who are considering Stanford.
