In all honesty, we don't need guys who put pressure on our model of recruitment. We've had super early QB commits (eg. Burns, March 2012), but they've checked the boxes of our flow -- a flow that's worked monumentally over the last few cycles for QBs.
If we were desperate for a QB, we'd have offered Rosen when he indicated that an offer would seal it. We're obviously not, and I'm willing to trust the staff on this. And I also think that this has to do with the low level of attrition on our scholarships. The Bamas and tOSUs of the world cycle guys left and right. We're remarkable in the sense that our recruits usually stick around, even if only to finish their degrees (and not complete their athletic eligibility). That really changes our offer structure in that it requires our patience and theirs because the fit needs to be right.
At the end of the day Stanford is Stanford. By virtue of us being on this board we all waited for that big white envelope, regardless of the other factors pushing us to "commit" elsewhere. The right recruits for us are sympatico to that and fit in splendidly in the 94305.
