My oddest college admissions experience (circa 1997) involved visiting University of Texas at Austin's honors college. As I recall, I just showed up with my older brother accompanying me. Got to meet the director of the college. Turns out I had been rejected, but I guess my being interested enough to visit the campus (I lived in state) swayed the gatekeeper to reverse his decision. So, I have both a rejection letter and an admissions letter from the place (not really, as I didn't keep that stuff).
Also, I'm way more likely to dream about my very humble high school football career than college (where my record was similarly mediocre).
