There's a reason I don't go to Vegas... In another thread I posited a 0-3 Stanford taking on a 0-4 WSU this Wednesday evening at Maples, which would have been for 11th place in the conference.  Turns out it's going to be a 1-2 Stanford taking on a 1-3 WSU, with the winner ending up right in the middle of the Pac and the loser STILL being able to look down on U.SC [at least for a day or two, at a minimum].

As others have pointed out, though, this season is tough because every improbable win creates short-term joy that is necessarily tempered by long-term unease.  Or, to put it differently, what I keep thinking of is:  Charlie Brown, Lucy, football...
