I live in the OC. I promise you the prevailing view is/was NC as soon as Kiff was fired. The belief is Kiff and Daddy Kiff held back #1 USC from winning the BCS in 2012.
There really seems to be no understanding that the short roster impacts anything. Lee was returning punts because they had 56 athletes, but down here people think Lee was in the game because Kiff was clueless. 2014 and 2015 will feature more of that pain and lack of appreciation. USC could rise again, but few programs are in for the world of hurt USC will see in 2014.
The type of coach SC fans expect will have better options. SC will be a good position for somebody, but not for the coaching greats SC fans think are yearning to coach at SC in 2014.
SC will settle for some lower-tier BCS AQ coach and the fans will scream because that coach will not be a proven and current BCS bowl game winner. Just my guess, we shall see. If SC hires a coach that has won a BCS bowl in the last 4 years I will be AMAZED, but that is the level of quality many expect will appear in December. My guess is the desired (expected) brand name savior cruises onto the scene in 2016 after the 2014 coach is fired.
