My best friend, who I met at Stanford as a fellow transfer student, transferred from CalTech.  But he maintains close ties and actually has attended a CT reunion or two.  He describes his own experience and those of his CT friends kind of the way the survivors of the Battle of the Bulge describe theirs.  Deprivation, suffering, bonding with those who went through it so they understand what others can't.  I'm sure there are CalTech students who have a good experience.  I was working on the Pasadena newspaper when CalTech actually won a football game over the Claremont Mudd JVs.  Bonfire time!
