I agree with you, JPRI, though I think the team was a lot closer to being a winner in Walsh's final season than he ever gets credit for. (Go back, look at the scores, and then ponder what our record would have been if Eric Abrams' kicking had not gone inexplicably into the tank.) Willing.ham got the team into four bowl games, and that last one was attained with his starting quarterback out half the season -- and, moreover, had absolutely zilch to do with Walsh recruits. I have never understood what happened to Will.ingham after he left Stanford.

I agree that the 1994 team was much better than its final record would indicate. That's why I was a little surprised that Walsh left. His recruits had had their baptism under fire and now were ready to go out and win some games. I would have thought that Walsh would have wanted to be a part of that, rather than leave on a sour note.
