Apparently the kid had a phenomenal Stanford football camp. Really showed well against some OL guys we had invited or offered. Just think, if he hadn't spent the money to come camp at Stanford or, if, say, his dad had gotten laid off a couple months earlier so they decided they had to skip the trip to Stanford, then no celebrating here or in Omaha.Â
And, it's an act of courage to send your kid off to a distant college now matter what one's financial or scholarship situation is. Particularly if the family income is less secure, as his dad's layoff situation might be. So kudos to the parents for making that leap of faith along with their son.
