OL Austin Hall told Rivals some interesting things that we need to keep in mind as we watch recruiting over the next month. First he said that offers have to go through Shaw, who is on vacation until the end of the month, so don't expect any new offers this month. I suppose that would be true of commitments, as well. He's listed as a three-star, but he looked good to this untrained eye in his camp competitions.
He said something interesting in discussing Stanford's camp. We apparently teach footwork differently than other schools, and our OL get into their stance differently. I guess that's because we play a different style of football from other schools. It might also have an impact on who is offered and who commits.
I found what he said about education to be interesting. In the past, many athletes have spoken of a good education as something to "fall back on." This implies that they're primarily concerned with athletics, but that they're hedging their bets against unexpectedly bad development or injury. However, Hall referred to it as "to move forward with," which shows it's important to him irrespective of how far he goes in football.
