Based partly on garvin's review, I was looking forward to The Americans but have not been hooked because up 'til now I've found it ... kind of boring. I absolutely love Mad Men - a show with a slow boil if there ever was one - so I don't need explosions every other second but

Watched a few episodes of Mad Men and just couldn't get into it.  I think the problem was I couldn't be imaginary friends with the people on that show. And that's my hesitation with The Americans.  As a Chinese-American, I can't imagine being friends with Soviet spies, with the Soviets being enemy of the Chinese and Americans.  Based on your collective recommendation, I will check it out this off season.
