Hmm ... I've been a student at Stanford and I've taught at Iowa State. Students at ISU are excellent, and were a pleasure to teach, but I can't think of any other factor that would put Iowa State in the plus column. Cyclone athletics have fallen so far (they're not even contenders in wrestling these days) and the weather is absolutely abominable. But he's from Iowa and maybe the extreme temps and ever-present gale-force winds don't bother him. They sure bothered me -- we left after a year.
