At this point, we have the off-court issues: multiple insiders who have spoken to players and parents and who have made clear they felt it was a toxic, emotionally abusive environment. They say at least one player went to HR mid-season. They say multiple players and parents complained to the AD. We know at least one player would withdraw from the portal if a coaching change is made. And we have a number of portal announcements that very conspicuously fail to say anything about the coaches at all. And the player I spoke with, who all but said she was sad she felt she couldn't stay at Stanford.
We also have the long-observed on-court performance: the inability to get back to the tournament even with four McDonald's All-Americans. The failure of players to develop meaningfully (which makes sense in light of reports plays got relatively little one-on-one skills training). The genuinely mediocre offense that didn't even seem suited to our personnel. The odd substitution and benching patterns.
Whether or not the portal or NIL or ACC travel or whatever systemic issues may be additional contributors to Stanford's decline, I guess I just feel like there's so much evidence this coaching staff is not the right one, I'm not even sure why we're tilting at other windmills.
I think I've said enough on this. The AD will either act, and I'll be glad to sign up for season tickets again regardless of how decimated our roster is, or he won't, and Stanford will lose another of the dwindling fans of its WBB program.
