I was just reading over last year's thread after the loss:

Several interesting take aways.Â
Chiney was double and triple teamed every time she got the ball, and wound up with 5 turnovers. I think we can expect that will continue in spades, given that she does not have Nneka to draw defenders away. She was 3 of 12 for 7 points. Nneka had 22--that is probably more like what we can hope for from Chiney this year although it will depend on someone else attracting some of the attention the way Chiney did for Nneka.
Nneka only played for 22 minutes because of foul trouble. She and Chiney each wound up with 4 fouls and this changed the game. Interestingly, UConn boards are very worried about foul trouble for their bigs, but we should be too. We cannot afford for Chiney to get Missy type fouls.
They pretty well shut down Toni. She was 2/10 for 7 points. I do not remember who they had on her.
Jasmine had a superb game against UConn--probably the best of her career. She hit 3 out of 4 from three point range and had 3 assists and no turnovers in 21 minutes, 14 points total. After that game I thought she would become our main point guard. Jasmine played for 21 minutes and Amber for 6. It would be great to see Jasmine come back to that level a year later.
UConn had a horrible time shooting 3s which kept us in it, somewhat.Â
Sarah Booth had big minutes, Joslyn did not.Â
We had 9 more turnovers than UConn did. Bria Hartley had 3 steals, Mosqueda-Lewis had 2.Â
Dolson had 4 blocks.
UConn's top scorer was Mosqueda-Lewis with 25, their second was Bria Hartley with 19.Â
Taylor got a lot of time last year and was not very effective. 0 points and 4 rebounds in 32 minutes.
Our team has changed a lot more than their team--even accounting for the addition of Breanna Stewart. Sarah Booth, Lindy LaRocque, Taylor Greenfield, and Jasmine Camp each got major minutes last year, while Amber Orrange, Joslyn Tinkle and Mikayla Ruef did not. Only Chiney and Toni are really going to be playing similar roles this year, meaning that UConn will face a whole new team.
