In addition to being genuinely happy for Jones and Raynaud, both of whom I have followed closely in the NBA, I can't help but be reminded of how incompetent Muir and Haase were. Haase for his terrible coaching, and Muir for his bumbling leadership in extending Haase time after time when it was clear to everyone else that Haase couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag. Speaking of which, not exactly shocked that Haase isn't coaching anywhere now as far as I know.
Why is my griping relevant to this thread? Because those idiots cost Jones and Raynaud a ton of money. Especially Jones. Spencer's size, tenacious D and 3-point shooting stroke were obvious from the beginning, but while he had a green light to shoot 3s I don't think he had a single one that didn't have a defender draped all over him. Ok, that's obviously an exaggeration but you get the idea. I complained for years that Haase's offense didn't ever set screens to give Spencer open looks.
TLDR: I don't think Spencer going undrafted was a Stanford issue, it was a Haase issue.
