It's to China's benefit that they don't make themselves a problem imo. That way they can negotiate Russia over a barrel to maximum effect. China probably wants to devote their attention to Taiwan right now and not the Russian border, but who knows, maybe they are playing a smarter game by leaving Taiwan alone and going after weaker prey, loaded for bear.
