Wondering whether Baker’s expose of Stanford includes himself. After all, he comes from a successful family of reporters and seems pretty brainy, and is likely destined to be a member of the elite reporting circles at the New York Times, Atlantic, or (these days) as owner of a successful substack.

The lady always doth protest too much. I do think he is well qualified to write a book about the ruling elite, but not for the reasons he puts forward... And quite honestly: there is almost nothing about Stanford that is categorically different from Harvard/Yale/Princeton/etc. in terms of grooming the select few for positions of power. Maybe it just seems novel to his parents and their benefactors because they are all multi-generational East Coast elites?
