China is more likely to entrap Russia in a one-sided economic treaty or resource deal than it is to conquer territory.  Russia would certainly prefer not to have to send troops eastward, and Russia could end up receiving some substantial amount of materiel in exchange for Chinese access to a needle-moving amount of natural resources in whatever form the Chinese require.
