Verlander was an excellent guess for most recent; he was actually the second most recent.
Nolan Ryan was the fourth member of the club, and 45 years was a good guess on how long between the first and second 3000k members, but was actually too low.
By the way, the 45th anniversary of Nolan Ryan’s 3000th strikeout will be, perhaps fittingly, on the 4th of July.
