Hang on a second. OKC won a title prior to their move from Seattle (1979). Saying that franchise hasn’t won a title to date is like taking down all World Series flags from Oracle Park that were won by the franchise before the move to SF.
Fair complaint; this was from the Economist so not exactly their core competency. I, too, would consider the championship won in Seattle to count.
Regardless of the bad question, the answer is still the Denver Nuggets, a mere two years ago. There are 10 franchises that have never won a championship (the list does not include the Thunder). Aside from the Pacers, who are the other 9 championship-less teams?

Another one… the Edmonton Oilers are in the Stanley Cup Finals, and if they win, will break a 3+ decade drought. No Canadian team has won the Stanley Cup since…? Who was the team and when did they win the last Stanley Cup by a Canadian team?

Montreal 1993 (Hockey is my #2 favorite sport after baseball). And speaking of Edmonton, the best rendition of a country’s national anthem in any sport is easily the Oilers. The fans do a beautiful job after a great lead-in by the hometown singer who performs the song while standing in front of his seat in the arena.
