The harsh reality is that Ukraine cannot survive another year of attrition.   Russia can, however painful.

What is the basis for that statement? I don’t doubt the possibility that it is true, I’m just not sure of the certainty that it is true.  I have not seen similar predictions with that degree of confidence.
