It's already been announced that the Big East has lost their automatic bid in the new BCS/playoff regime that's about to begin in 2014. Only the Pac-12, Big Ten, SEC, ACC and Big 12 will retain automatic bids for their champions.Â
The Big East, Mountain West, C-USA, MAC and Sun Belt get no automatic bids to the 6 games that will make up the new system. Instead, the highest ranked champion from those "lesser" 5 conferences will get an autobid.Â
