Ukraine's fall, should it happen, dramatically increases the odds that China will invade and conquer Taiwan.  Taiwan knows this.  If I were Taiwan I would be accelerating a nuclear weapons program.  In fact, my guess is that many countries are doing just that, given how unreliable an ally America has become.

Taiwan, ROC had a nuclear weapons program.  My first cousin once-removed was the head of this program.  The US caught them and told them to stop because it would trigger an invasion by the PRC. The program then went further underground.  It turned out the military attache to the program was a CIA asset and absconded with the proof.  He and his family now live in the US under assumed identities.  The US told the ROC if they continued to pursue nuclear weapons our security guarantee would end.  That was the end of the program.
