I have no doubt that Putin ordered it or that the US should make every reasonable effort to deter acts like this. But what is the appropriate manner to respond?  We’re already devoting tens of billions of dollars in funds and military equipment to a war effort against Russia. We’re already trying to enforce a sanctions regime against Russia. Short of a direct military strike by the US, what more is there for the US to do? Maybe lift the restrictions on Ukraine using our mid range missiles?
