San Francisco Giants Seen As Viable Option for World Series Champion
Posey is calling the shots. The new GM will follow his lead. As for the idea of offering one year deals with opt-outs, Buster is on the record as opposing that strategy. I think we have already seen the last one.
Soto is not coming to SF. There is no need to even think about the possibility. He is a New York/LA type of free agent.
The Giants NEED hitters. They need a 2B who can get hit for average along with a franchise hitter who can drive in runs. As for pitching, Snell didn’t contribute much in ‘24. Pick up a guy who can slot into the 3rd or 4th spot in the rotation and the pitching will be solid.
Agree re Soto. Last year, be damned, I want Snell back. If he's all in, he wins 23 games. Thairo was hurt all year. Can he be the 2B we need? He's had plenty of clutch hits and can hit for power. His fielding is in the upper half, at least, and he lead the team in steals a couple years ago, maybe.
