Rough year. 80-82 finish. I went to the game yesterday, 6-1 dispiriting loss, Yaz and Chapman played a few innings, then sat. Snell didn't pitch so Birdsong started and got lit up.
The Giants batting finished at 101 OPS+ (13th of 30) and runs per game was 17th of 30.
Giant pitching finished 17th in both OPS+ (101) and runs allowed (4.28).
Giant fielding finished T13 in fielding % (.985), 14th in errors(87), 8th in double plays (135), but 27th in Rtot (-40),
So, basically a slightly-below-average MLB team.
Attendance for the three Cards games was 35k, 36k and 32k for the last day. Giants finished with 2,647,736, 12th in MLB, about a 7% increase over last year and the 7th largest increase in MLB, so...at least the marketing department did their job.
No news on Farhan or Melvin yet.
3B Chapman, with the expensive new contract promises the playoffs next year:

I feel moderately good about it, given the improvements many of the rookies and second year players have had. I doubt we'll get Snell, I think Ray will opt in, we should keep Yaz, I think both Stanford alums, Erik Miller (who struck out Ohtani five times) and Tristan Beck will improve, as will most of the other young players. Jung Hoo Lee will return and should improve.
Giants have 11 players under contract at approx. $111 mms. (I'm including Ray and Flores, not including Snell; also Webb, Hicks, Tay. Rogers, Chapman, not Conforto or Canha) and a lot of players somewhere in the arbitration process. I highly doubt we get Soto, outside shot at Adames and Ha-Seong Kim, don't think there are any other free agents we want.
