LeBron certainly didn't do himself any favors with The Decision; I think that turned a lot of people off from him for a number of years.  But once you get past that youthful indiscretion, as another poster mentioned there are a lot of things to like about him.  And he's simply a great player and his records speak for themselves; people can argue how much of an all-time great, but his level of play for 20+ years is impressive.  But as another poster mentioned, danged if I don't find myself ever rooting for him in the NBA; in the late 00s I was a Pistons fan so his Cav teams were going up against the end of that era Pistons in the playoffs; in the early 10s I don't think anyone outside of south Florida wanted the heat to win squat; and during the late 10s even though it was cool he was with the Cavs I was rooting for the Warriors; and same with the Lakers of the 20s.  So while I'm always rooting against him I still think he's a great player and seems like a decent guy.  But as yet even another poster said, he had the unfortunateness (?) to be around the same time as Curry who tics a lot of those boxes without the downside of The Decision and is playing for a Bay Area team, so to this area he was always the "other" when it came playoff time.

This is a lovely attempt to mediate.  You're right of course that few NBA fans would root for a superstar playing for a rival of "their" team.  I certainly never rooted for Larry Bird or Tim Duncan.  My only critique of your position is that you've made it seem like you're just echoing what cardcrimson said above.  But cardcrimson said that he would never want LeBron to be a Warrior because LeBron is "Narcissus in a uni."  As you've said, however, LeBron seems like a decent guy as far as star pro athletes go.  To my knowledge, he hasn't harmed team chemistry anyplace he's been.  He even won a championship with Kyrie Irving, a player who's been toxic on other teams.  I see no reason that LeBron wouldn't be a great fit on the Warriors (or virtually any other team), but I'd be happy if no other team wanted him so he could just remain a Laker until Father Time ultimately wins its battle with him.
