Due to extreme heat Lake Shasta lost 2.2 Billion gallons to evaporation in the first few days of July

That's a lot of water.

A quick internet search determined that the capacity of the lake is about 1.468 trillion gallons.  The evaporation removed about 0.1499% of the max capacity.  Not sure if that's significant from a water management perspective, but it sure makes an interesting news item...
